Good to meet you!

Hi, I’m Arron Baynes. I write fiction, and I write about writing.

My stories are long-form and speculative. The kind that relies on worldbuilding, internal logic, and readers who don’t need instant gratification. I’m fascinated by how complex fictional worlds stay coherent, and by the unspoken contract between writers who take their time and readers willing to trust the process.

I also write about writing as craft. How stories actually work and come together under the hood. Expect to see posts on narrative structure and devices, what makes humour land (or not), how long series avoid falling apart, and how the tools and parameters you choose end up shaping what you make. I love that good writing is both self-expression and a design problem with moving parts.

Most of what’s here is me thinking out loud: notes on pacing, voice, maintaining reader trust, and the unsexy infrastructure that keeps big projects from collapsing. It’s just me working through how stories get built and how they hold up.

I write under a pen name.
